The Highlands County Little Theatre offers a great variety of theatrical performances, featuring some of the talented local performers. Nearby is the Lake Wales Little Theatre, also offering a full season of quality entertainment on stage.

Highlands County is the home of three museums, featuring a range of different cultural experiences. These include the City Museum of Avon Park and The Children’s Museum of the Highlands.

There are also three art galleries, including Beverly’s, the Circle Gallery, and the Lolly Shoppe, Inc. The Lake Wales Art Center is only a short drive from Highlands County and offers a changing array of art exhibits, as well as a musical performance series.

Looking for a dose of the outdoors and nature, look no further than Highlands Hammock State Park, a 9,000-acre park 4 miles west of Sebring in Highlands County, Florida, off U.S. 27. The park opened in 1931, four years before the Florida state park system was created.
